Fountain County Court Docket Searches
Start a Fountain County court docket search at Indiana MyCase. It is the public view of non-confidential Odyssey cases. Pick Fountain County and court code 23C01 for Fountain Circuit Court matters. For a city case in Attica, choose Fountain/Attica City Court with 23H01. Leave the filter at the statewide default. A local match can drown in a long list. You can begin with a party name, business name, attorney, case number, citation number, or cross-reference number.
One caution first. MyCase is a public-access view, not the official court record. When a filing shows no document link, ask the clerk who keeps the case. Use this sequence:
- Choose the Name, Case, or Attorney tab.
- Select 23C01 or 23H01.
- Narrow broad results by status and file date.
- Note the case number, court, status, and CCS date.
- Ask the proper clerk for unavailable public documents or certified copies.
Searching by case number? Hyphens and leading zeroes are optional in MyCase, though the exact printed form works best when you request something from a clerk. The name search takes wildcards and a sounds-like option. Broad searches can hit the 1,000-result limit, so the local court and date filters matter.
Two Fountain Court Codes
The Indiana court directory currently lists two courts here. They are Fountain Circuit Court and Attica City Court. No Fountain Superior Court appears. Nor is there a separate court for Covington, Veedersburg, Kingman, or Hillsboro. County-level cases go through the Circuit Court route no matter which town a party calls home.
| Filter | Docket | Follow-up |
|---|---|---|
| 23C01 | Fountain Circuit Court and Small Claims | Fountain County Clerk |
| 23H01 | Attica City Court | Attica City Court clerk |
| PACER | Federal cases | Federal clerk |
The Judicial Branch county page gathers current local contacts, MyCase, e-filing, rules, and statistics.

The official landing page points to that same county route. Living inside a town does not spin off a separate city-court case.
Court Dockets: What They Show
Indiana names its trial-court docket record the Chronological Case Summary, or CCS. It lists case events in time order. The formal record of judgments and orders is the Record of Judgments and Orders, shortened to RJO. MyCase can display much of the public CCS. Still, its screen is not a certified record. It may omit documents the clerk can lawfully provide.
| Case number | Court code, filing year and month, case type, and sequence. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Names and roles that are public for the case type. |
| CCS entries | Dated filings, service, settings, orders, and disposition activity. |
| Setting | Hearing date, time, place, and event type when published. |
| Status | Open or closed case-management status, not a finding. |
| Documents | Links where remote public access is allowed. |
Read entries with care. "Filed" means a paper was received or accepted, not that its claim was proved. A motion asks the court for a ruling. An order gives the court's direction. A continuance or reset moves a setting, so read the next dated entry.
MyCase Is Read-Only
Fountain Circuit Court joined Odyssey on June 1, 2015. Attica City Court went live earlier, on October 15, 2012. MyCase sits on top of the case-management system as a read-only public layer. Lawyers file papers through Indiana's separate e-filing system. The public cannot file a document or change a court date through the search screen.
The official Odyssey list confirms coverage and identifiers. Older cases may show converted events. Document access may not reach every paper. Maintenance, captcha checks, restrictions, and processing lag can also change the online view.
No match? Check the court filter and spelling, then contact the clerk. No public result does not prove that no case or filing exists.
Fountain County Courts and Dockets
Fountain Circuit Court is the county's general trial court. It is part of Indiana's 61st Judicial Circuit. By law it handles the county case types assigned to it. These cover criminal, civil, domestic-relations, probate, juvenile, small-claims, and infraction work. Attica City Court is the only lower local court listed in Fountain County. Most state trial appeals climb to the Indiana Court of Appeals.
| Level | Records | Channel |
|---|---|---|
| Fountain Circuit Court | County trial cases | MyCase 23C01 and Clerk |
| Attica City Court | City-court matters | MyCase 23H01 and city clerk |
| Indiana appellate courts | Appeals | State appellate tools |
| Southern District of Indiana | Federal cases | PACER and federal clerk |
Federal records live elsewhere. Fountain County falls under the Indianapolis Division of the Southern District of Indiana, and a federal search does not belong under either Fountain MyCase code.
2024 Fountain Docket Activity
The 2024 certified statistics report 3,361 cases before all Fountain County trial courts, with 2,249 disposed and 1,110 pending in the displayed year-end table. These figures measure inventory and activity. They do not count unique people, establish a crime rate, or describe the result of any single case.
The certified page supplies a stable historical snapshot.

The Interactive Court Online Reports lets a researcher choose a court and period.

Use MyCase for one public case and ICOR for aggregate statistics; they answer different questions.
Court Dates in Fountain County
A CCS setting can show the date, time, location, and hearing purpose. Indiana Administrative Rule 9 requires trial courts to make daily calendars or dockets available in electronic or other form. Yet Fountain posts no stable daily-calendar URL. For one case, MyCase is the practical route. The Fountain County court schedule explains how to compare the latest CCS entry with a notice or ticket.
Settings change often. A continuance moves a hearing. A reset places it on a new setting. "Vacated" means the event will not proceed as shown. Check later entries and call before travel. Attica holds court most Mondays at 4:00 p.m. That general schedule does not confirm a specific case.
The Courthouse Access Route
You can also walk in. The Fountain County Courthouse sits at 301 4th Street in Covington, and the county facility page posts weekday hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. At the Clerk counter, request a case-number lookup, a CCS inspection, a calendar check, or a specific public filing.

The county also publishes an official building image.

Mail works too. The directory lists the Clerk at PO Box 183, Covington, IN 47932. Include the case number, the document or CCS date, and your preferred format. Add a return contact. Fountain publishes no general copy form, no complete copy-fee table, and no fixed turnaround.
Docket Access Under Indiana Law
Indiana's Access to Public Records Act works alongside the Supreme Court's court-record rules. Public access is the starting point. It does not make every filing downloadable. Case categories, personal information, medical records, sealed papers, and other protected material are excluded.
Key rules:
Indiana Code 5-14-3 supplies the public-record framework.
Access Rule 4 starts with public access.
Access Rule 5 identifies exclusions.
Access Rule 9 governs requests for excluded records.
Expect some process. A verified request, notice, hearing, and written order may be required. Protected content stays confidential while a request is pending. A CCS may show that an excluded filing exists without revealing it.
Fountain Records Through Time
Fountain County's own county history counts several courthouses over the years. Fire destroyed one in 1860. The building standing today went up in 1936 and 1937, and murals painted between 1937 and 1940 cover more than 2,500 square feet of its walls. That long paper trail explains why digging up an old court record can take more than a quick online search.

A separate historic Clerkâs Building nomination describes a courthouse-lawn building and its records role.

Historical sources give place context. They do not establish current hours or fees.
How the Clerk Keeps Records
Patricia Smith is the Fountain County Clerk, per the directory checked August 22, 2026. Officeholder names change, so confirm before relying on them. The Clerk of Courts page describes the office's real work: it files Circuit Court and Small Claims cases, maintains the court records, and handles payments on court matters.

Need a phone? The local page lists 765-793-6230 for the Clerk. The state directory gives the Clerk at PO Box 183 and 765-793-2192, Circuit Court at PO Box 97 and 765-793-3301, and Attica City Court at 765-762-2467.

Small Claims and Copy Fees
Fountain County's small-claims material posts a $97 base filing fee. Service adds more, and the method you choose changes the total. Once a filing arrives, the Small Claims Office sets an initial date roughly three to four weeks out. Parties can then track status and hearing dates through MyCase.
| Item | Published status | Confirm with |
|---|---|---|
| Small-claims filing | $97 base | Small Claims Office |
| Service | Varies | Clerk before filing |
| Plain or certified copy | Fee not located | Clerk when ordering |
Don't apply a traffic fee to a record copy. Ask the office for the current cost, payment options, identification, delivery, and timing for your exact request.
Traffic Uses Three Systems
A traffic matter can touch three records. MyCase displays a permitted court CCS. The traffic payment portal searches and pays eligible tickets, while the Bureau of Motor Vehicles keeps driving records and license status. No single system replaces the others. The local page treats the "Court Appearance Date" as the payment due date, and paying may remove the need to appear. Want to fight it? Call the Clerk for a setting, and ask about deferral before paying anything. The traffic court page sorts out payment, contests, deferrals, case status, and BMV records.
City-by-City Dockets in Fountain County
The five city pages mirror the largest incorporated places in the 2020 Census table. Population drives that list, not court workload. Attica alone has a city court; the other cities run through Fountain Circuit Court under 23C01.

When the Online Record Stops
A dead link means it's time to change channels, not to assume the paper vanished. Start by writing down the full Fountain court identifier, the case number, the document title or CCS event text, and the event date. Then call the Fountain County Clerk for a 23C01 matter or Attica City Court for a 23H01 matter. Ask whether the item is open to public inspection. Ask whether the office treats your request as a routine copy, certified copy, or access request. Precision pays off. "All records about a person" works far worse than a request for one named public filing in one numbered case. Indiana's public-record framework expects reasonable particularity, so state the format you want plus a return phone number or mailing address. Confirm the current charge, accepted payment method, postage, identity requirements, and expected completion time before mailing any money. The Fountain County offices publish no general record-request form and no full plain-copy and certified-copy fee schedule. Some gaps are technical. An older event may only exist as a converted record from when the court joined Odyssey. Public links can depend on case type or when documents became available remotely. Maintenance windows interrupt otherwise valid searches, and online financial data can lag behind the file. None of that changes the clerk's role as keeper of the official record. Other gaps are legal. Rule 5 protects specified records and information. A sealed or expunged matter may never show up in an ordinary search. Protection-order information runs through a separate state route. Juvenile, adoption, mental-health, and treatment material carries strict limits. Never ask staff to disclose protected facts over an informal call. Instead, ask which rule applies and whether Rule 9 offers a verified written request process. A court decides access to an excluded record, not a private search service.
Confirm Before You Rely
Good notes help the clerk route your request and cut the risk of ordering the wrong public record. Verify dates, balances, status, and official copies with the office that keeps the case.
Map and Directions to the Fountain County Courthouse
Circuit Court and Small Claims cases are filed and kept at the Fountain County Courthouse in downtown Covington. The Clerk of Courts counter inside the courthouse handles filing, recordkeeping, and payments for criminal, civil, child-support, and traffic matters. The present courthouse was built in 1936-37 and its murals cover more than 2,500 square feet, but that history is not a guide to current office hours or floor layout.

The Circuit Court's own directory phone (765-793-3301) differs from the Clerk of Courts' local line, so identify which office you need before calling. No official Fountain County page publishes a parking plan, security-screening rule, or public-terminal location, so calling ahead is the safer plan for a records trip.
