Fountain County Criminal Docket Searches
Start at Indiana MyCase, the public face of Odyssey. For county criminal matters, choose Fountain Circuit Court or 23C01. A case number works best. A party name, attorney name, citation number, or cross-reference number can also serve. Broad results narrow down by case type, filing range, and Open or Closed status. The county filter matters. MyCase caps a result set at 1,000. When a filing has no public link, a balance may have moved, or an official copy is required, the Fountain County Clerk is the route, and the Clerk of Courts page lists the local office and its duties.
- Open MyCase and choose Case, Name, or Attorney.
- Select Fountain County or court code 23C01.
- Add a criminal case type, status, and filing dates.
- Open the matching summary and read each CCS event.
- Ask the Clerk for any public filing not linked online.
Fountain Criminal Docket Case Codes
A Fountain County number runs 23C01-YYMM-TYPE-SEQUENCE. The opening digits mark Fountain County, C01 marks Circuit Court, and the type code names the case class. MyCase accepts the number with or without hyphens and leading zeroes. Still, use the printed form for any clerk request.
- F1 through F6
- Current felony-level codes.
- CM
- Criminal misdemeanor.
- MR
- Murder.
- PC
- Post-conviction proceeding.
- MC and RF
- Miscellaneous criminal and red-flag matters, each with distinct access rules.
Converted records may carry older CF, FA, FB, FC, and FD codes. A code classifies a file; it does not state the result.
Criminal Dockets: What They Show
Indiana calls the trial-court docket the Chronological Case Summary. The short name is CCS. It lists judicial events in time order. Each line is only a summary, not the full filing. The event date and the entry date can differ. Corrections show up as new entries rather than silent rewrites.
| Case and court | Number, type, Fountain court, filing date, and status. |
|---|---|
| Charges and roles | Counts and party roles when public. |
| CCS events | Filings, service, appearances, motions, and settings. |
| Result | Plea, dismissal, trial result, disposition, or sentence. |
| Documents | Links allowed for that case and document type. |
Formal rulings live in the Record of Judgments and Orders. A brief CCS line is not the full order.
Fountain Criminal Docket Outcomes
A filed charge is an allegation, never a guilt finding. Open or Pending is case management, not a verdict. Over time, the Fountain County criminal docket may show dismissal, plea, acquittal, conviction, sentence, or another procedural result. Each term needs the next entry plus the underlying order for context. A motion is just a request until the court rules. A setting is a planned event. A reset means the date moved. These distinctions matter whether you track your own case or follow a public matter. Closed does not explain every effect of the result.
Key distinction: A Fountain County CCS is procedural history. It does not prove every allegation.
Criminal Case Stages on the Docket
Not every Fountain County case takes the same route. Common entries still form a useful sequence. Filing opens the record, and an initial hearing or arraignment addresses the charge and next steps. Pretrial settings may cover counsel, discovery, motions, plea talks, or trial readiness. A plea or trial can lead to disposition. Dismissal may end a count or the whole case on other grounds.
Docket flow: Filing › Initial Hearing › Pretrial › Plea or Trial › Disposition › Sentencing.
Post-conviction filings can add later PC entries. Most state trial appeals move to the Indiana Court of Appeals, which keeps a separate appellate record.
Fountain Criminal Docket Documents
The MyCase access matrix explains which documents each case type can display online. Sentencing orders are the main criminal document class generally available. That covers many felony and misdemeanor categories. Other public filings may have no MyCase link at all. That official matrix sets out the details.
Different Fountain County criminal dockets can show different link sets. A missing link does not prove a document absent. Note the case number, CCS date, and filing name. Then ask the Clerk whether inspection or a copy is available.
Fountain County Criminal Docket Courts
The current directory lists one county trial court: Fountain Circuit Court. It is the 61st Judicial Circuit of Indiana. It uses 23C01 and handles county felony and misdemeanor matters. No Fountain Superior Court is listed. Attica City Court is separate and uses 23H01. An Attica address alone does not place a case in City Court. Rely on the code printed on the notice or case number. No other city or town court is listed for Fountain County.
| Court | Code | Route |
|---|---|---|
| Fountain Circuit Court | 23C01 | MyCase and county Clerk |
| Attica City Court | 23H01 | MyCase and city clerk |
| Federal court | Separate | PACER and federal court |
Fountain Criminal Docket Caseload
The 2024 certified statistics report a criminal pending subtotal of 425 for all Fountain County trial courts. The same report lists 3,361 cases before court, 2,249 dispositions, and 1,110 pending across all categories. These are court aggregates, not counts of convictions or unique people.
These caseload figures only describe the volume of docket entries on file, not what any single case decided.
Federal and Fountain Criminal Dockets
Fountain County sits in the Indianapolis Division of the Southern District of Indiana. Federal cases never appear as 23C01 files in MyCase. They carry federal case numbers, file through CM/ECF, and open to the public through PACER, with appeals going to the Seventh Circuit. The PACER site provides the official access point.
Let the court named on the paper or in the case number decide which system to search. A failed state search does not rule out a federal file.
Access Rules for Criminal Dockets
Indiana Access Rule 4 treats a criminal docket as public unless something pulls it out of view. The pull-outs live in Rule 5 exclusions. Juvenile, mental-health, protection-order, medical, treatment, sealed, and expunged material can all be restricted. Even an open case can hold one excluded filing.
Need something the court has closed off? Access Rule 9 gives the formal route: a verified request, notice to the other side, sometimes a hearing, then a written order. The record stays confidential while that request waits.
No-result caution: No search result does not prove no filing exists. It may be excluded, sealed, expunged, outside Odyssey, or not yet processed.
Write down the case number and entry details, then call the Clerk. Never lean on an unofficial cache to slip past a court restriction.
Fountain Criminal Docket Verification
Check a few things before trusting any Fountain County criminal docket. Court codes trip people up first. Make sure yours reads 23C01, not Attica's 23H01. Then match the filing month, case type, and sequence inside the full case number. Compare the newest CCS entry. Match it against any order linked to it. Similar names and old converted events can quietly steer you to the wrong record.
Need a current balance, a certified order, or a filing with no link? Contact the Fountain County Clerk. Say whether you want inspection, a plain copy, or a certified copy. The county publishes no complete copy-fee schedule. Ask about cost, payment method, turnaround time, and delivery. Do this before sending money. Some records never reach the public portal. Mail and counter requests can still pull them up.
MyCase terms forbid data mining. Search one legitimate identifier. Use the supplied filters, and skip reproducing private details from a live result. Court information serves you best when it answers a focused question. Ask about a filing, a setting, an order, or an outcome. The originating court record is still the thing to verify.
