Traffic Case Records in Fountain County
Fountain Circuit Court, identifier 23C01, handles county traffic and infraction matters filed there. Attica City Court, identifier 23H01, is the only separately listed city court in Fountain County. The ticket or search result identifies which court holds a given case. Do not choose a court based only on where a driver lives.
The Fountain County Clerk maintains county traffic records and payment functions. Attica City Court maintains its city-court matters. MyCase can show a public case status, CCS events, and hearing information. The Indiana traffic-payment portal is a different system used to find and pay eligible tickets. A clerk record, portal transaction, and license record are three distinct items.
Attica uses its own city-court counter and public instructions. Its court page says court is held most Mondays at 4:00 p.m., but that is only a general schedule. Call 765-762-2467 for the exact date. County matters remain with Fountain Circuit Court and the county clerk even when the person or traffic stop has an Attica connection.
Fountain Ticket Date Means Deadline
The official Fountain traffic instructions say the date printed as “Court Appearance Date” functions as the payment due date, not necessarily a direction to appear in a courtroom. A person who wants to contest the ticket should call the Clerk’s Office to set a court date instead of assuming the printed date is already a hearing.
This local wording is a common trap. Read the ticket, check the filed case, and ask the clerk if the required response is unclear.
Fountain County Traffic Ticket Lookups
Use the Indiana traffic payment search for a UTT number, driver’s-license number, or first and last name with date of birth. Ticket mode accepts formats such as J0000000 or 000012305489; keep leading zeroes. Name mode requires first name, last name, and date of birth, with middle name as an optional aid.
- Copy the UTT number and court from the citation.
- Search the state payment portal by UTT, license number, or name and birth date.
- Check MyCase by citation, case number, or name for public CCS and hearing details.
- If the ticket is new, allow at least ten business days, retry, then call or visit the filing court.
- Confirm the due date, amount, eligibility, and case number before taking action.
For county questions, contact the Fountain County Clerk of Courts at 765-793-6230 or visit 301 4th Street, Covington. The state directory also lists PO Box 183 and 765-793-2192. Attica City Court questions go to 765-762-2467.
A payment result can display a balance and eligibility, ticket details, offense lines, court and case data, a transaction charge, and any option the court has made available. Review each field. A portal’s willingness to accept funds does not answer every question about a hearing, deferral, or current court order.
Three Fountain Ticket Search Modes
The public payment interface separates Ticket, Driver’s License, and Name searches. Results may show the ticket number, police agency, ticket date, court, case number, and payment eligibility. It does not promise that every new citation is present or payable online.
| Mode | Required input | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| Ticket | UTT number with leading zeroes | Exact citation in hand |
| License | Driver’s-license number | Ticket number unavailable |
| Name | First, last, and date of birth | Identity-based fallback |
The blank official payment search image below shows those modes before any private result is entered.
If the portal still finds nothing after the posted wait, use MyCase and the clerk rather than guessing that the ticket disappeared.
Traffic Court Dates in Fountain County
Check the citation first, then compare it with the MyCase summary for the filing court. A setting may be continued, reset, or vacated after the ticket was issued. MyCase is the first public check, but Fountain County has no stable public daily-calendar URL in the research. Call the court before travel, especially when the CCS shows a change or the date is near.
| Citation number | UTT such as J0000000, or the filed case number. |
|---|---|
| Court | 23C01 Fountain Circuit or 23H01 Attica City Court. |
| Date and time | Payment deadline or a separately set hearing. |
| Location | The court location stated on the current notice or CCS. |
| Status | Current case-management and payment information, subject to clerk confirmation. |
Fountain Payment Channels
The county payment page lists several routes. Eligible traffic tickets can be paid through the Indiana portal. Mail payments use a money order or certified bank check payable to Fountain County Clerk of Courts at 301 4th Street, Covington, IN 47932. The county page lists cash or money order for in-person traffic payment.
Criminal and civil court fees use a separate GovPayNow path with a case number and service fees. Do not use that link as a substitute for the traffic portal.
The county’s mail and counter guidance documents the offline choices.
Keep the receipt, ticket number, and case number. Confirm that payment reached the right case.
Mail should use the payee and address on the current county instructions. Do not send cash by mail. At the counter, confirm accepted payment before travel. Online users should review the service or transaction fee shown before submission. When a payment is not reflected promptly, use the receipt number and case number to ask the clerk about posting.
Paying a Ticket vs Fighting It
Fountain’s official instructions present a simple fork: pay by the printed date or call the clerk to contest and set a court date. The online payment screen may present plea language for an eligible ticket, so read the actual terms before submitting. The county research does not support a blanket statement that every payment has the same legal effect.
Contesting a citation creates a court process rather than erasing the deadline. Ask how the plea or request must be delivered and when the setting will be issued. If a continuance later appears, check the next CCS entry for the new date. Never rely on the old citation date after the court has entered a different setting.
| Paying the Ticket | Contesting the Ticket |
|---|---|
| Use an allowed payment route and retain proof | Call the filing court to request a court date |
| Act by the printed Court Appearance Date | Contact the clerk before that response deadline |
| Online if eligible, by mail, or at the counter | Follow the court’s instructions for the contested setting |
Missed response date: Fountain County warns that failure to act can result in license suspension. Contact the clerk and Indiana BMV for the current steps; no single suspension period applies to every record.
Fountain Traffic Deferral Comes First
The Fountain County Prosecutor program page says people with no or limited traffic history may qualify for traffic deferral. Commercial driver’s-license holders are not eligible under the published county terms. The payment page tells anyone interested in deferral to call the clerk before paying online.
The official sources did not publish a current deferral fee or program length. Ask the prosecutor or clerk about eligibility, cost, paperwork, and deadlines before taking another step.
Two Records: Court File and Driver File
The traffic case record belongs to the court and clerk. It can show the citation, CCS, settings, disposition, and public financial entries. The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles maintains the separate driving record and license status. The state payment portal records a transaction. None of these three records should be treated as a full substitute for the others.
| Court Traffic Record | Driver Record | |
|---|---|---|
| Kept by | Fountain court and its clerk | Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles |
| Shows | Citation, settings, action, disposition, and court balance | State license status and driving-record entries |
| Access | MyCase or clerk request | Official BMV record channel |
Attica Traffic Uses 23H01
Attica City Court has a separate local workflow from Fountain Circuit Court. Its public page lists cash at the city court counter and a cashier’s check or money order by mail to 305 East Main Street, Attica, IN 47918. The city also says a two-week payment extension may be requested by calling the court. Those directions apply to an Attica City Court case, not every Fountain County citation.
Use 23H01 in MyCase for the city court and call 765-762-2467 about amount, status, a contest, or an extension. Use 23C01 and the Fountain County Clerk for a county Circuit Court citation. The court code on the filed record is the cleanest way to keep the two payment and docket routes apart.
Fountain Traffic Fee Snapshot
The official county fee schedule is labeled “as of July 1, 2023.” It lists a $139.50 base for an Indiana traffic citation or Class C infraction. Moving speed additions are $6.50 for 0 to 10 mph over, $21.50 for 11 to 20, and $35.50 for 21 to 30. For 31 mph or more over, the page directs the reader to call the clerk. A worksite speed-limit entry is $300.
The same page uses “$139.00 plus” for its non-moving heading. Preserve that wording when checking an item. Seatbelt and child-restraint entries show a flat $25. The ticket and court’s current amount control.
The schedule also lists special add-ons and mandatory-appearance situations. A probationary-license holder cited for a moving violation more than 15 mph over must appear and present the license, according to the county page; payment is not accepted until after that appearance. For 31 mph or more over, call the clerk rather than calculating a total from the table.
Traffic Record Copy Fees
The published traffic schedule covers citation amounts, not a complete court-record copy schedule. Ask the clerk whether a public MyCase view, plain copy, or certified copy fits the need. Give the exact case number and document or CCS date, then confirm price, payment, pickup, mail, and processing time.
| Item | Fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| MyCase public view | No remote fee by default | Not an official certified record |
| Plain copy | Confirm with clerk | No full local copy schedule found |
| Certified copy | Confirm with clerk | Request the exact record and certification |
